I have been reading romance novels and vampire novels for years and happened upon this delicious treat of a series by Mary Janice Davidson. I call it the undead series. Yes there is still some gore and violence but that is outweighed by the moments of laugh out loud fun.
I was actually crying I laughed so hard. Her main character Betsy, Queen of the Vampires, is hysterical. She is more concerned over her Manolo Blancos than taking over the world. Her boyfriend/vampire pain in the butt is a real dish. She doesn't know whether to thrust him out into the sunlight or drag him back to bed. Yes even vampire queens have their man trouble.
The first book in the series is called Undead and Unwed. It is where Betsy gets turned, tries to finish the job and learns to deal with her new life. It is fantasic and wonderfully amusing.
